A Masterpiece of High Gothic Architecture

The Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is not just a landmark; it is a testament to centuries of faith and craftsmanship. At its heart lies the Shrine of the Three Kings (Dreikönigenschrein), the largest reliquary of the Western world, which has drawn pilgrims for over 800 years.

Preserved for Eternity

This architectural wonder stands tall today thanks to the tireless dedication of the Zentral-Dombau-Verein (ZDV). Since 1842, the ZDV has been the "scaffold" of the cathedral, funding over 60% of preservation costs to ensure this legacy survives for future generations.

The Digital Twin

Creating a centimeter-accurate copy of the world's most impressive Gothic structure.

Meta Dom is built upon a massive photogrammetry project by Northdocks for the Kölner Dombauhütte. More than 200,000 photos (around 100,000 by drone, 100,000 on the ground) and 1,000 laser scans were captured. The current 3D model is based on around 100,000 photos and has over 2 billion polygons.

This "Digital Twin" actively assists the Kölner Dombauhütte in restoration. It allows master builders to inspect damage on the spires that is invisible from the ground, ensuring the cathedral's safety without costly scaffolding.
